Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal was a versatile and talented
performer who could do comedy and drama. In the 80s, she became a popular
household name as Peg Bundy on the Fox series Married... with Children (1987).
During the show's lengthy run, she was nominated for three Golden Globes as
well as two American Comedy Award. Peg Bundy's character was popular, and Katey
continued her career, not only staring in sitcoms but also playing roles that
were quite different from the role that caught her to the attention of. In 2008,
she portrayed the character as Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy (2008).
This role was the matriarch of a Hell's Angels-esque California biker band. In
2011, her performance in the character earned her an award for her performance
in the Golden Globe Award as Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series-Drama.
Catherine Louise Sagal, the daughter and director of Sara Zwilling and Boris
Sagal was born on 19th January 1954. The Los Angeles native began performing at
age 5 and trained in acting and voice at the California Institute of the Arts
in Valencia, California. After being a waitress for a singer during her
"salad", she joined the group "The Group Without a Name"
prior to gaining a break with Gene Simmons, who was part of 1970s rock group
KISS. She also gained valuable experiences as a backup record singer for
Simmons as well as other famous artists such as Bob Dylan and Etta James. She
also was a dynamic performer live alongside diva Bette Midler in one of her
"Harlettes" in her extravagant stage shows in the late 1970s and in
the early 1980s.
