Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff, an actress from France,
French actress was born on 3 May 1986. She studied at the Cours Florent drama
school in Paris and has appeared in films such as Loup (2009), Sleepless Night
(2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She is the Mantis character in the Marvel
Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers:
Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was born in
Quebec City, Canada, to her Korean mother and French-Russian father who was employed
in the city as a consul for the French government. Eugene Klementieff, a
painter, was her grandfather. Since it sounds like the Korean words for
"spring" or "tiger", her parents gave their daughter the
name Pom. The actress spent a year in Canada before her family moved throughout
the world because of her father's work. They resided in Japan and the Ivory
Coast, before settling in France. Her father passed away from cancer when she
was 5, and her mother had schizophrenia and was incapable of caring for children
as a result, and Klementieff was raised by her aunt and uncle who were
paternal. Her uncle, who she described in her own words as "like her
father from childhood," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. Her older
brother took his own life seven years later. The second time, it happened on
her 25th. After her uncle's passing, Klementieff went to law school for a short
time to impress her aunt. However, she did not feel that the field was
attractive to her. Also, she worked as a waitress in France and a saleswoman.
At the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started acting when she was 19.
It was only one month in studying when she was awarded the competition to be a
part of the theater that provided the opportunity to take two years of free
classes with the school's best teachers. Klementieff was first to act
professionally in the independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the
stepdaughter for the main character Catherine Deneuve. Filming for her scenes
was a three-day process. In one scene, Klementieff was to help push someone
down the stairs but accidentally fell down the stairs herself and director Gael
Morel kept that shot in the final film. Loup (2009) was her debut film with a
leading role. It is an French movie about a tribe in Siberian mountain reindeer
herders. Klementieff was filming at the middle of a camp located at a distance
from the nearest village. It was there that temperatures plummeted to zero.
