Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger, was born in
Katy, Texas on April 25, 1969. Her mother Kjellfrid (Andreassen) is a former
nurse and midwife born in Norway. Kven (Finnish), in addition to being of
Swedish and Norwegian descent. Her father, Emil Erich Zellweger, is a
Swiss-born engineer. They got married in the year 1963. Drew Zellweger is
Renee's brother, and he was born on 15 February 1967. Renee began her interest
in acting at the age of 14 when she was a member of the drama club. She took an
acting course at the University of Texas (Austin) and began thinking about
acting as a career. Following graduation, she wanted to keep acting, however
Hollywood is a tough city to get into, so Renee chose to remain in Texas, and
auditioned for roles around Houston, where she managed to get roles in movies
such as Reality Bites (1994) and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey was
another Hollywood newcomer who she met filming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: The
Next Generation (1994). Renee observed him working on a project , and she
auditioned. She was offered the role in Love , and an offer of a 45 (1994).
This was a huge success and earned her the respect of many that she moved to
Los Angeles. She was then offered another role in The Whole Wide World (1996)
and it gave her an opportunity to make her debut as a major actress. Cameron
Crowe was busy casting Jerry Maguire (1996) which starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was
considering such actresses as Cameron Diaz, Bridget Fonda, Winona Ryder, and
Marisa Tomei, until he was introduced to Zellweger's role in The Whole Wide
World (1996). He auditioned Zellweger and was confident that she was his
Dorothy Boyd. After following her success in a couple of independent films,
Renee felt confident enough to make a return to the huge-budget Hollywood film
industry. She starred opposite Meryl Streep in the tearjerker One True Thing
(1998). She also played a part in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) in which
she starred alongside Jim Carrey, and soon after that, she started dating Jim
Carrey. as the lead in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
